history

sae doesn't remember what her world was like before tall stone walls that stretched on forever, almost seeming to block out the sky. at least, that's how things felt to her. imprisoned in a fortress without escape, she became rebellious and fiercely independent, despite her father's attempts to mollify her. though she loved him, even his kindness could not keep her from remembering she was trapped.

after gorion's death, a few of saerya's memories began to return, but nothing she could make any sense of. tortured with nonsense pieces of memories and bloody dreams, she fought to hold on to her sanity as she hunted the man she would eventually learn was her brother.

though she didn't mind being idolized and adored, she found that it made it difficult to determine who her true friends were, and her already small circle of friends became even smaller. it is said, though, that she eventually found love, and her children certainly insist she did. but where she settled, no one really knows. there are people who say she made her home in the furthest reaches of the world, and then there are those who insist that she hides in plain sight, in the bustle of the city. everyone, though, agrees that wherever she is, she is making the world a more wonderful place.

after losing gorion, saerya closed off her heart. despite being wooed by several men, she refused to give any of them a chance. it wasn't until she met a rough-and-tumble mercenary in a tavern straight out of her torturer's dungeon that things began to change.

it was hardly love at first sight, at least on her end. but his rough manner and shameless flirting attracted her in spite of herself, and it wasn't long before the pair of them became tangled up. sae's vulnerability kept her from admitting to him how she felt, though, until they were at the boughs of the tree of life.

after saerya turned down godhood, the pair were married in a relatively quiet ceremony attended only by their closest friends. they retired to a quieter, more mundane life, though if even a quarter of the rumors are true their remained anything but ordinary. after their children were grown, the pair disappeared completely, and though nothing is known of saerya after her husband's passing, people say that she found love again, though no one can say with who.
