ana's first meeting with the love of her life could hardly be considered pleasant, yet it was fateful nonetheless. in her uncle's old bar, she watched him drink the days away, never giving her the time of day, and she learned to ignore him in turn. as her uncle called in a favor, though, forcing the ranger named bishop to travel by her side, she discovered that he was much more than he seemed. despite their vastly different outlooks on life, the pair had a chemistry that neither could ignore, falling headfirst into a tempestuous relationship. ana knew that she should not, but she loved him, in spite of who he was, or perhaps even because of it. love is rarely logical, and it certainly wasn't for ana.
he betrayed her, though he said it was the hardest thing he had ever done, even as he told her in less than so many words that he loved her. ana's heart shattered, but she knew she could not let this crumble her. her heart was broken, but all broken things could be mended, and she knew if she let herself dwell on the heartbreak it would destroy her. ana thought she would never see him again, but she was wrong: she found him in the wall of the faithless, and for the first time she felt truly tested in herself, despite what she had already been through. in the end, though, she did what she always knew she would: she pulled him out and forgave him. it should have been impossible ten times over, but ana had never let such things as "impossible" stop her from doing what she wanted to do. even among her kind, she was special, and she was going to use every ounce of her strength to save the man she loved against all odds.
their relationship was never without its share of difficulties. they rarely agreed on anything, and though they both influenced each other in ways neither expected, they were ultimately very different. despite that, or perhaps even because of it, though, they did love each other, and that's what kept them together, even through all their disagreements and differences. both of them were willing to make things work regardless, and it surprised him as much as her when he eventually proposed. their son, jacorin, was born some time into their marriage, and their daughter, alxana, followed several years after.
