adeil's grandfather fell in love with an angel, and handsome and charming as he was, he managed to capture her attention for a fleeting moment. their affair was brief but passionate, resulting in adeil's mother, nallia. adeil grew up hearing endless stories of her heroic and extraordinary adventures, and she made it clear that she expected the same thing of him. adeil wanted to live up to her example, but it seemed a nearly insurmountable task. still, for all his doubt and wondering if he'll ever be good enough, he does want to do good in the world, and if chasing an impossible goal helps him do so, then that is the way it is meant to be.
he was not always so recklessly devoted to good, however. as a young adult, he fell in love with the wrong girl, an erinyes who desired to turn him over to the side of evil. though touched by the divine, adeil is only mortal, and the temptation troubled him, for some time, but eventually, his strength of will proved stronger, and he was able to shake off her influence before he truly fell to the call of evil. still, this almost-fall haunted him, and reminded him of the value of fighting evil even when the pressure almost felt like too much.
from that moment, at least, there was nothing that could sway him from his path, and no temptation that could hold him for more than a second or two, and his confidence improved greatly, though he was still convinced he would never be as perfect as his mother. he was already more than his mother's example, in his own way, though little anyone said could have convinced him of that. still, who he was mattered much more than who he thought he was.
