history

vieronia was born to the matron mother of house illuan and raised to be a priestess exactly like her mother: a driven, heartless woman who cared for nothing but power. in drow society, though, power is not given, it is taken, so from the time she was a young woman, vieronia was scheming to take her mother's place by any means necessary. her greed and impatience, though, proved to be her undoing, and her plot unraveled. in the ensuing chaos, vieronia was cursed with a change of heart, that is, having one, the worst thing her mother could imagine, and cast out of her home.

vieronia wandered, at first, not sure who she was, but feeling an overwhelming desire to help people, at odds with the memory of the person she knew she'd been. she remembered her past well, but she couldn't imagine being as cold and uncaring as the figure in her memory was. she knew, logically, that she should try to reverse the curse that had been cast on her, and yet her heart demanded that she was better this way, that she could help people and do good in the world. it made no sense, but she didn't have time to think about it.

abandoned by lolth, and feeling unable to turn to eilistraee, a goddess whose followers she had caused suffering, she turned to the grace of selûne, who accepted and sheltered her, despite who she'd been and what she'd done.
