giselle loved her father, though most people would probably say she didn't. they just didn't know her. giselle probably could have been kind, if the world had been different, but she learned when she was young that weakness and kindness often meant death, and that she had to put herself first because no one else would, not even her own father.
though she made friends during her travels and had their help in avenging her father, she had a difficult time learning to truly trust anyone. though she was beautiful and not without her share of courtships, in the end no one was able to win her heart, and the task of charming her became impossible after the loss and eventual return of her soul, which changed her into someone even darker than she had been.
at the end of her journey, giselle was offered divinity, though somewhat reluctantly. she jumped at the chance, ascending to her godly father's throne. though few would call her a kind goddess, it was well known that she was not cruel to her worshippers and would take in those who had no other place to go. vengeance was a favorite prayer among her followers, reflecting who she had been as a mortal. as a goddess, she was much who she had been.
giselle didn't want to be cruel, but as a girl with no parents and no prospects, she did what she had to do to survive. with a knack for raising the dead, she quickly learned that by doing so she could terrify people into giving her what she needed. it wouldn't have been her first choice, but it was all she could do, and in the end, it changed her.
eventually, though, she grew up, but the lessons she learned as a child never left her. she needed to depend on herself, and she couldn't count on anyone else saving her. if she didn't put herself first, she would only end up being stepped on by others. so, slowly, giselle built an empire. a small empire, surely, but an empire nonetheless. she gathered servants who worshipped her, but rarely served her directly, and soldiers to protect her. though she was always wary of betrayal, they were kept in line by fear of her skeletal friends.
eventually, though, boredom, or perhaps something else, drove channa to leave it all behind. where she went next, no one really knows, but every time there are rumors of undead, those who once served her know she might well be there.
