when lorelia's parents told her they were arranging a marriage for her, she ran away, furious. while she may have understood many of her responsibilities, this was one that she could not. she refused to be forced to marry someone who had been chosen for her. unwittingly, though, she ran right into the prince she'd scorned, though she didn't know it then, and she might have reacted differently if she did. she saw only a young man travelling alone, though, and she felt compelled to help him, or at least to make his journey through the cold north easier. so she asked him to travel with her.
she appreciated that he didn't ask her any questions, and they travelled together as friends and eventually, as lovers. and then one day, he told her the truth of who he was, to her utter shock. though she was initially upset that he didn't tell her who he was, she had not told him either, so in the end she couldn't hold it against him. and she loved him, after all. they returned to her home together, where they were married in a lavish ceremony. though they continued to travel together for a time, they also made it their home, where they always returned.
eventually, the pair settled down, ready to watch over their kingdom. some years later, their first child was born, and the couple was thrilled. lorelia's second pregnancy was extremely taxing, but with the love and care of her husband she managed to pull through it. after that, the couple seriously considered not having any more children, but in the end, the choice was made for them when lorelia realized she was once again carrying a child. this time, however, everything went much more smoothly, much to her husband's great relief.
