exquisitely beautiful and wholly dedicated to her art, adelina is a jewel content to stay behind the walls of her home. lucky enough to have been born into a family where she would never know financial hardship, she would shut herself away from the rest of the world for days, putting the lush, vibrant images in her head to canvas. her colorful and lively paintings could light up any room, and she wanted nothing more than to put her brush to the page every day for all her life.
though her family was beyond dysfunctional, adelina never really seemed to notice, too wrapped up in her own world. that would change, though, the day her father married her off, to a man many years her senior and with a cruel streak. she was abused in unspeakable ways, and her paintings became a thing of the past, as she was no longer permitted to paint. though she was strong-willed, more than people gave her credit for, eventually, she folded, and her spirit weakened and crumpled. she simply gave up on ever being happy again, unable to see a way out of the prison she'd been trapped in. there may as well have been bars on her windows for all the freedom she had, and she had no dreams of the future.
though she would steal small moments of happiness for herself, perhaps visiting the library or a dance with her brothers at a ball, they didn't last, and they weren't enough to keep her heart warmed against the horrors she faced each day. she put on a front for the world, terrified of what would happen if she let her pain be known, too afraid to try to save herself or to let anyone else save her.
