history

aerily was born into a comfortable, if predictable, life. she enjoyed noble stature while still having the freedom to spend her life however she wanted, and she had little to worry about when the war hit, sheltered as she was. everything changed for her, though, when the younger prince, laiken, was found slain, and his sister, the crown princess, went missing. with no other children, the king and queen named their closest relative as heir, and that relative, the illegitimate daughter of the king, was aerily.

at first, she had hoped that the princess would return, and that she would never be thrust into such responsibility, responsibility she didn't want and never had. strangely, though, she found herself growing into it, and realized that it was not something she could give up so easily. she had been given a duty, and even if it was never supposed to be hers, she could still do the best she could with it. in time, she grew accustomed to her role, and though perhaps she still did not consider herself ready, when the time came for her to take the throne, she felt that she could do her people proud regardless.

though the war ended before she took the throne, she was the one who truly ushered in a new era of peace and prosperity for her people. though the kingdom was not without its problems, the good outweighed the bad, and aerily was quick to take a direct hand anytime she could help, not content to leave her people to struggle when she could help. her reputation spread, and she became known as queen aerily the kindhearted. not the most intimidating of monikers, perhaps, but one that her people loved her for, and one that she was honored to carry.
