though lux has more identities than humans have fingers, she was happy enough to live her life as sylkaen, a half-elf from silverymoon who was a priestess of selûne. guarding her secret even more carefully than she guarded her own life, she would run through her alternate identities each night before she went to bed even as she prayed that she would never have to use them. all she had ever wanted was to have a home, and friends, and she didn't want anything to jeopardize that. so, she fully trusted no one.
but nothing can really last forever, and one night lux awoke to find her home in flames. somehow, she had been exposed, even though she was sure she had never let anything slip. people she had trusted with all but her deepest secret, people she had loved, crowding around her home to watch her burn alive. terrified, she fought to find a way out, but there was none. the fire was coming from every side, and she was trapped.
she would have died there that night, truly alone, if not for a young woman with green eyes, whose name teases lux's mind but that she cannot remember. a picture of wildness and fearlessness, the woman simply walked through the flames and grabbed lux's hand. she cannot remember anything that happened after that until she woke up in the forest near her former home, and trying gives her headaches.
after the betrayal, lux became a wanderer, too afraid to put down roots. though she still longs for a home she can call her own, she does not know if she'll ever be able to trust in that way again.
