born from the impossible union of the angelic solar sofiel and the demon god asmodeus, amiyea's very existence has always been something that transcends understanding. asmodeus certainly intervened to assure her birth, though it is even more certain that celestial magic was involved as well, ensuring she was born with a gentle disposition and a kind demeanor that overshadowed the darkness that clung to her soul. with a heart that is kinder than anyone else's, she takes strongly after the lighter part of her heritage and fights her darker urges, though as the daughter of a demon, she certainly has them, and they remain a constant struggle, even as she wants to be a beacon of the light. asmodeus considers his daughter a failed experiment and chooses to completely ignore her, something she is utterly grateful for, but her solar mother watches over her daughter and guides her when she can. it is uncertain how this coupling came to be, but dark magic was surely involved, and though sofiel cannot abide the memory, she loves her daughter in her own way regardless.
the first time amie heard a bell, she was utterly charmed by the sound, and the soft music soothed the darkness in her soul. she soon began to play them herself, falling more in love with every chime, both soft and loud. she would weave them onto her clothing so that she would jingle gently as she walked and tie them into her hair. the sound always preceded her wherever she went, announcing her arrival. whenever she heard the soft chime of a bell, the sound would remind her of the goodness in her soul and who she desired to be, and that she could be more than the dark half of her heritage.
amie's legendary kindness became her defining quality to everyone around her, but as for herself, felt that she needed more to complete who she was and who she wanted to be, despite the fact that she could not change her heritage. the world had no place for someone like her, not really, and she wanted more than anything to find someone who would accept every part of her. she was only accepted so long as she never revealed who, or what, she really was, and though she surrounded herself with friends, it was still a terribly lonely way to live.
amiyea met sarran on the coldest day she'd ever known, and she thought that was fitting, for he was the coldest person she had ever known. she had known cruel people before, but someone so utterly without malice and yet without any warmth was completely alien to her. she thought she could help him see the world in a better way, but he had no interest in hearing what she had to say.
after spending a week together, they parted, and amiyea was frustrated and unable to get him out of her mind. but, time passed, and she moved on with her life, and she never imagined she'd see him again. she fell ill, and though the townspeople loved her and did whatever they could to help her, she remained unwell. in their desperation, they sent out calls as far as they could, begging for help to cure their beloved friend. and at length, none other than sarran came to town, looking to cure her for the offered reward.
he was surprisingly gentle with her, and she saw a different side of him, one she hadn't known existed. for the first time, she felt that he was listening to her, but, she despaired of having any time left, certain that she was cursed because of her heritage. and then, one day, she woke to find that she was no longer affected. she thought it must have been sarran who had done something, but strangely, he wouldn't take credit for it, and when he left, he invited her to come with him.
they grew ever closer, trusting each other with the deepest parts of themselves, and eventually amiyea realized that she had fallen in love with sarran. it still came as a shock to her, though, when he kissed her for the first time. and finally, she knew she had found the person who loved every part of her, even the parts she herself hated. though he never changed completely, the way she had once wanted, she loved him as he was, more than she could ever have loved any other version of him or anyone else.
