from the first day she came to candlekeep, joxina was what people called trouble. with an eye for jewels and a quick hand, she was the first suspect whenever a particularly wealthy guest found themselves with a lighter purse, but she was never able to be proven guilty. though her quick wit and intelligence made her well-loved by many of the people at her home, there were more than a few guards who breathed a sigh of relief the day she left.
though the death of her father put a dampening on her high spirits, she bounced back remarkably well. with a strong determination she singlehandedly brought down the man who had murdered her father and nearly caused the destruction of the sword coast as well. with no more obligations, she had planned to spend time travelling on her own, exploring a world she had known but did not remember. fate, however, refused to release its grip on her.
after battling for her very soul and finding the love of a fellow bard who embraced her "live for the moment" philosophy, joxina found herself in a land that seemed preternaturally familiar, and knew that she had been there years before, even if she did not remember it. though she considered leaving the war behind several times, she knew that she would never be truly free unless she saw everything through to the very end.
after turning down godhood, joxina and her lover vanished from the public eye, and very few know what really became of them. every story told becomes increasingly more exaggerated, and when asked what the truth is, the couple themselves will only smile enigmatically and change the subject. it is clear, though, that they are happy.
joxina always thought she'd love to be swept off her feet like in the romantic tales she loved to read, but in the end things happened quite differently than she expected, beginning in a little place hidden underneath the city. a bard herself, she was unable to resist the pretty words of a tiefling bard who asked to write a book about her. though she suspected his words as nothing more than a line, she let herself be reeled in anyway, and it wasn't long before the two of them had become something more than friends.
though joxina knew in the underdark that she loved him, she knew she could not ask for more than he was willing to give, and she kept the words to herself, even though she also knew the feeling was returned. it was not until the very depths of hell that haer'dalis confessed that he loved her, and she returned the sentiment even though she knew that at some level he, too, had already known.
their romance only intensified as together they slayed many of her siblings, and though the tiefling was a doomguard who preached the entropy of all things, joxina's romantic roots wouldn't allow her to fully accept this. she chose to believe that their love would endure in spite of that, and though she turned down godhood for many reasons, she could not deny that the most important one was him.
their travels continued, and despite what joxina wanted, she knew better than to push for more commitment. it wasn't until after the birth of their firstborn, a son, that the two agreed to get married and raise their child together. some years later, a daughter followed, and then another child, and perhaps another still, if rumors are to be believed. though no one really knows what became of the couple after they faded from the public eye, anyone asked will swear that wherever they are, they are most certainly still together.
joxina always felt that her city was too small for her, beautiful though it was, hidden away from the eyes of any but its inhabitants. always a lover of music and dance, it is no wonder that she became a bard. she spent her days climbing to the highest places in the city, staring over the walls at the endless expanse that lay beyond and dreaming of the day she was declared an adult and permitted to leave.
all of that changed, though, when she met a travelling young knight. misael was everything that she was not: responsible, grounded, sensible. his stability drew her to him like a moth to a flame. in only a matter of months they were bonded, and by the time a year had passed they were officially married. despite their opposing personalities, he was the protector that joxie so desperately needed, and while his no-nonsense attitude sometimes grated on her, she still felt like she finally had the freedom she craved, in a way she hadn't expected. being tied to someone didn't have to mean that she wasn't free.
when joxina met misael, she never imagined that she'd fall in love with him. he was handsome and kind, but he was far too serious and stoic for her tastes. she was wrong, though. when they ended up being thrown together more than once, they spent most of their time together and they realized that there was an undeniable bond between them. rather than continue to fight it, they let themselves be drawn together, and joxina adored him.
despite misael's original intention of a short visit, he stayed long enough for them to be married only months after their first meeting. once they were married, joxina bid him goodbye, knowing that even though she would miss him, she'd see him again. her childhood dreams of leaving the city, though, refused to be silenced, and though he worried for her safety, when she insisted on coming with him after his first departure from her, he couldn't deny her, and so a new chapter of their lives together began. her music and laughter kept them happy even during long walks on the road, and her sunshine brought a new joy into his life.
joxina loved the outside world, just as she always imagined she would, and for years, she travelled with her beloved, never desiring anything more. but the promise of a permanent home called to her eventually, and she found herself wanting to settle down somewhere, making their adventures less frequent. though having children changed her, she never really lost her sense of adventure, and once their children were grown, she and her husband once again found themselves falling in love all over again in new parts of the world.
