lazula fell in love every day—with her traveling companions, with kind merchants in the market, with any handsome passersby who smiled at her, but never in a lasting way. she found it difficult to imagine finding a forever kind of love until she realized that it had found her in the form of a paragenasi called jasper.
she was not sure that she could trust his love for her, though. she was the only person who could touch him, so she feared that he only loved her by default. so when she woke one morning to find him gone, she decided that he must have come to the same conclusion and was unable to tell her like a coward. she cried for a week but ultimately decided that she was better off without him.
her heart, though, felt otherwise, for she could not fall in love the same way she had before meeting jasper. as months passed, her heart felt more and more hollow, and no love could fill that. but a year passed, and she began to heal nonetheless.
she was completely unprepared to see him again, and even more unprepared for what he confessed to her, that he had to go and assuage his doubts, and she confessed to him her doubts too. and she could not hold her own doubts against him, so she forgave him, and they were married in a quiet ceremony that very night, swearing to never be apart again.
they were married soon after, and they settled in the city, near jasper's family. shortly following, lazula gave birth to twins.
